Gavin Greenaway — conductor

For the finale of the 11th Film Festival, the organizers have prepared a real treat for all lovers of classical film music and James Bond 007 — Casino Royale — will be shown with composer David Arnold’s impressive music played live by Sinfonietta Cracovia under the baton of the British conductor and composer Gavin Greenaway.

With Casino Royale, EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios launched their wildly successful reboot of the Bond franchise marking Daniel Craig’s first appearance as the legendary MI6 operative, in which he earned high praise with fans and critics alike.

Directed by Martin Campbell, Casino Royale brings us Bond at the start of his career, having just earned 00 status and his licence to kill, and pits him against the ruthless terrorist financier known as Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen). From the jungles of Madagascar to the white sand beaches of the Bahamas, Bond’s pursuit of Le Chiffre leads to a showdown in a high-stakes poker game at the luxurious Casino Royale in Montenegro, and ultimately to a jaw-dropping finale on the Grand Canal in Venice.

Along the way, Bond meets the beautiful British Treasury agent Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), assigned to keep a watchful eye on 007 as he risks it all to bring down Le Chiffre. Giancarlo Giannini stars as René Mathis, Bond’s mysterious MI6 contact in Montenegro, and Judi Dench returns as M.

It is the fourth film James Bond film scored by David Arnold. He is the continuer of the style of John Barry -- who composed music for the Bond films in the years 1963-1987. Arnold has been a great fan of the Bond films and of John Barry since his childhood. On the wave of this fascination, in 1997 Arnold released the record titled Shaken and Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project, including  covers from the films with Jarvis Cocker, Chrissie Hynde, Iggy Pop and others. John Barry not only complimented the album, saying that Arnold ”was very faithful to the melodic and harmonic content, but he's added a whole other rhythmic freshness and some interesting casting in terms of the artists chosen to do the songs”. John Barry also recommended the composer to producers to hire him to write the score for Tomorrow Never Dies

All these in the final concert of the 11th edition of the Film Music Festival in Krakow on 3 June 2018. The Sinfonietta Cracovia orchestra will perform on the stage TAURON Arena Kraków under the baton of Gavin Greenaway.
