Concert program prepared in collaboration with Soundtracks Live (artistic director: Mikael Carlsson) and Wiesław Delimat

* world premiere

The Cinema Chorale concert strives to recreate the incredible atmosphere woven into films by choral pieces. Vocal parts play a number of different roles in film music, from forming the basis of the entire soundtrack, via providing variety to instrumental pieces, to grand choirs adding grandeur in great symphonic compositions. The concert puts choirs in the starring role.

As well as works by Bruno Coulais, we will hear compositions by masters such as Ennio Morricone, Arvo Pärt, David Lang and Patrick Doyle, taking us on a journey to a mystical world of vocal music. Featured soundtracks include The Chorus, The Mission and Death in Venice, as well as unjustly forgotten gems of choral music.

Running time: 1 H 10’ (no intermission)
