Legal aspects of using music in a film. Panel discussion and consultations
The panel will be dedicated to the various issues concerning using music in a film; it will cover the subjects of licensing, quoting music, contacting ZAIKS (Polish Society of Authors and Composers) and signing contracts with musicians in the light of the latest jurisdiction.
Legal aspects of using music in a film - both the one created especially for the film and the already known pieces - will be the subject of the discussion between a lawyer, producers, filmmakers and composers. The panel will cover the examples of gaining the rights solely to the song title included in the film title and the question of drawing up contracts with composers, especially in the context of the latest jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and the regulations concerning the proper gaining of the rights by the producer directly from the authorised persons or the organisations of collective copyright management (including ZAIKS). The participants will also discuss the topic of quotation and other examples of permitted use of music in a film, as well as the possibility of using film music apart from the film itself.
