Conductor, artistic director of the AUKSO chamber orchestra, violinist and chamber musician. Artistic director of the AUKSO Summer Philharmonic festival.
He is the founder of Silesian String Quartet and its primarius of many years. They have performed together in prestigious venues in Europe and all over the world, such as the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Concertgebouw and Ijsbreker in Amsterdam, Vredenburg in Utrecht, Schauspielhaus in Berlin, Tivoli in Copenhagen, Tonhalle in Düsseldorf, deSingel in Antwerp, Merkin Concert Hall in New York and Jordan Hall in Boston. Also together with the Silesian String Quartet Marek Moś has premiered circa 30 contemporary works – some of them dedicated to the ensemble.
Marek Moś has recorded for Polish Radio and Television, as well as for record companies such as CD Accord, Olympia, Partridge, Thesis and Wergo. His recordings have received many awards, among them the Fryderyk Award for a monographic CD with the music of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (1995). Marek Moś himself has received numerous individual awards, Contemporary Music Competition Award in Cracow (1979), International UNESCO Tribune in Paris (1984, 1988) and the Polish Composers’ Union Award (1994, 2005), among others. He also received the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis (2005) and the Silesian County Marshall Award (2005). In addition to his concert activity, Marek Moś is also a professor at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
