AUKSO – Chamber Orchestra of Tychy
Chamber music ensemble founded in 1998. Marek Moś and a group of the graduates of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice have created an orchestra, which was meant to be an area of artistic quest, creative development and joint creation of art of highest value. This is how AUKSO was born. The name, chosen by the ensemble – a Greek word meaning growth / to grow – is expressing their aspirations and marking the direction of their professional path.
Several composers have entrusted their works to the ensemble for premiere-performances: Paweł Mykietyn, Zbigniew Bujarski, Cezary Duchnowski, Wojciech Kilar, Aleksander Lasoń, Piotr Moss and Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, to mention just a few. AUKSO is performing in Poland and abroad, co-operating with such artists as Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Marc Minkowski, Piotr Anderszewski, Rudolf Barshai, Andrzej Bauer, Kaja Danczowska, Władysław Kłosiewicz, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Janusz Olejniczak, Olga Pasiecznik and Howard Shelley. They were performing at Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, Wratislavia Cantans and Warsaw Autumn and have recorded numerous CDs with Polish contemporary music by Grażyna Bacewicz, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Witold Lutosławski, Wojciech Kilar and Zbigniew Preisner. AUKSO has performed with artists such as Leszek Możdżer, Tomasz Stańko, Urszula Dudziak, Michał Urbaniak, Motion Trio and Voo Voo. They also founded their own music festival, AUKSO Summer Philharmonic, which takes place in Poland since 2000.
