Cultural scholar, teacher, singer. A graduate of the Postgraduate Studies in Ethnomusicology at the University of Warsaw. Holder of the Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, as well as the scholarship of Mayor of Białystok in the field of folk art.She works with the Department of Musicology of the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
For several years, she has been conducting field research in Podlasie and Western Polesie (Ukraine, Belarus), where she documents songs and learns them from the local village singers. She records, prepares and publishes CDs with traditional music, including Pieśni z Kożyna, Ludowe pieśni religijne z Podlasia and Dorzecze Niemna, which won awards in the “Fonogram Źródeł” competition organised by the Polish Radio. She conducts traditional singing workshops, also in cooperation with local performers. Initiator of artistic and educational projects concerning traditional culture, especially its musical aspect, as well as curator and performer of concerts, among others, within the Music Stage of Traditions in the Polish Radio and Mazurkas of the World Festival.
She has composed and recorded music for the radio play Sońka, she was also responsible for vocal preparation of actors for Gorycz (Polish Dance Theatre in Poznań), Czas wspomnieć Topilec, I dzwonów nie ma (Supraśl Academy), recorded music for the Czarnobylska modlitwa (Drama Theatre in Białystok).
Leader of the Południce ensemble, performing traditional songs from Poland and Ukraine. The ensemble recorded the albumPołudnice/Elektronice and music for the Kruk. Szepty słychać po zmroku TV series. Co-author of the Pieśni Piękne project. She plays on a frame drum and a baraban drum in Białystok-based Kapela Batareja.
