A composer from Iceland, living in Berlin. He composed music commissioned by artists such as Bang on a Can and Theatre of Voices, as well as the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. He also composed music for The Miners’ Hymns, a film created by an experimental American artist, Bill Morrison.After releasing his debut, Englabörn (2002), Jóhannsson recorded five more solo albums in collaboration with Touch and 4AD labels. He composed music for theatrical plays and contemporary dance. He is a co-founder of Kitchen Motors artist organisation in Reykjavik and the founder and member of the Apparat Organ Quartet. He received a Golden Globe for the soundtrack for the Theory of Everything by James Marsh. Recently he also composed music for Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners, Lou Ye’s Blind Massage and So Yong Kim’s For Ellen. Currently he is working on his new solo studio album.
