Two-time Emmy Award-winning composer/conductor Don Davis has enjoyed a widely varied musical career, not only as a composer of orchestral, opera and chamber works for the concert stage, but also as a versatile dramatic composer and conductor of film and television music.

He was born in 1957 in Anaheim, California, where he began the study of instrumental music at the age of nine, and composition at the age of twelve. Serious musical education followed at University of California in Los Angeles, in addition to individual study with numerous composers including Henri Lazarof and Albert Harris.

His compositions have been performed at numerous contemporary music concerts and festivals by ensembles such as Calder Quartet, California E.A.R. Unit, Los Angeles Master Chorale, XTET, Arditti Quartet, New Hollywood String Quartet, Debussy Trio and Lyris Quartet. His full-length opera Río de Sangre was premiered in 2010 by Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra conducted by Joseph Rescigno. Excerpts from Río de Sangre were premiered as a concert suite by the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Orchestra under the direction of Grant Gershon at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Albany Records released a CD of Río de Sangre’s world premiere recording.

He has composed film and television scores for: Beauty and the Beast, SeaQuest DSV, House of Frankenstein, The Beast, A Little Piece of Heaven, Personally Yours and Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets, Bound, Behind Enemy Lines, Jurassic Park III, Warriors of Virtue, Antitrust and Tokyo Ghoul, and science fiction trilogy The Matrix. Don Davis conducted The Matrix Live with AUKSO Orchestra at the 6th Krakow Film Music Festival.
